Andy Samberg from Brooklyn Nine-Nine Opens Up About ‘Unexpected Role’ in Lee with Kate Winslet: ‘There Was Some Hesitation’
Andy Samberg, known for his role in Brooklyn Nine Nine, will be portraying a photojournalist in the upcoming World War II film, Lee. He will be starring alongside Kate Winslet, who will play the role of war photographer Lee Miller.
For fans of Samberg, this will be a departure from his usual comedy roles. After years of making audiences laugh on SNL and in sitcoms, Samberg admitted he was initially hesitant to take on this new challenge.
Prior to the film’s release, Samberg sat down with Digital Spy to discuss his role and how Winslet encouraged him to take on the part.
Samberg revealed, “There was hesitation. When Kate Winslet expressed interest in me for a role, I immediately said yes.” He will be playing David Sherman in the film, a character Winslet believed he resembled.
Despite initial nerves, Winslet’s encouragement pushed Samberg to embrace the role. The film, Lee, follows the story of a fashion model turned war photographer for Vogue Magazine.
The movie releases globally on September 13th.
