Brooke Shields Wears Crocs Shoes to Tony Awards

Actress Brooke Shields shows off unique style with Crocs footwear at Tony Awards

Brooke Shields decided to skip the usual high heels on the red carpet at the Tony Awards on Sunday for a specific reason.

Instead of the typical high-heeled footwear associated with such prestigious events, the actress opted for clogs-style Crocs to pair with her yellow dress. The shoes matched the color of her sequined gown perfectly. She proudly showed off her footwear to photographers that night.

“I got my Crocs! I couldn’t do this in heels!” she stated in a red carpet interview with People on Sunday.

The reason for her choice of comfortable footwear? Shields mentioned on Instagram the day before the Tonys that she was recovering from “double foot toe surgery.” The Hollywood Reporter has reached out to her representatives for more information.

This isn’t the first time Shields has combined clogs with high fashion. Back in 2008, she was spotted wearing a long hot-pink gown with matching clogs.

Last month, Shields was elected as the president of the Actors’ Equity Association, the union representing around 51,000 actors and stage managers in Broadway and nationwide.

She won over Erin Maureen Koster, a stage manager and third vice president at Actors’ Equity, and Wydetta Carter, an actor who had been serving as Equity’s first vice president. Shields will be in office for a four-year term.

“I promise to lead with strength and compassion, and I will stand up for you and command the respect that we deserve as an acting community,” Shields wrote on Instagram after the vote. “To those who ran, I did not run against you, I ran with you and for you. I am eager to listen to you.”

Ariana DeBose will host the live broadcast from the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York. The ceremony will be broadcast live from 8-11 p.m. ET/5-8 p.m. PT on June 16 on CBS and streamed on Paramount+ in the United States.

Julianne Hough and Utkarsh Ambudkar will host the Tony Awards preshow, The Tony Awards: Act One. The special will feature the presentation of the initial round of awards and will air live on Paramount’s free streaming service Pluto TV from 6:30-8 p.m. ET/3:30-5 p.m. PT.
