Recently, Brooke Shields appeared on Jennie Garth’s podcast, I Choose Me, where she talked about her decision to make the documentary Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields and revealed her daughters’ reactions. Shields believed it was the right time to release the film as it sparked a broader conversation about the sexualization of young women in society beyond her personal story.
She mentioned, “And I was the conduit to a bigger conversation. And that, to me, is the biggest gift of all.” When asked if her daughters understood her reasons for the documentary, Shields shared that one of them did, while the other did not. Her younger daughter, Grier, expressed anger about it.
The actress mentioned that Grier felt surprised and caught off guard by the information in the documentary, deeming it a “bad mom move” on her part. Shields explained that she didn’t prepare her daughter for it and knowing Grier dislikes surprises, it left her feeling shocked.
Shields assumed everything would be fine and that her daughter would see her as healthy and not damaged. She thought her daughter would appreciate the progress made, but unfortunately, Grier had a different reaction.

Shields shared that Grier expressed she would never be okay with the situation and that she would never accept anything bad happening to her. In contrast, Rowan took a more reflective approach, acknowledging the importance of sharing such stories for women.
Shields praised Rowan’s maturity in understanding the situation differently. However, she expressed uncertainty about her younger daughter, unsure if she would ever come to terms with it.
