Sunny Deol makes official announcement of his return in ‘Border 2’ after 27 years, touted as ‘India’s biggest war film’
Sunny Deol is teaming up with JP Dutta for the upcoming movie, Border 2. Pinkvilla was the first to report on this exciting collaboration. Today, on June 13, marks the 27th anniversary of Border’s release, and to celebrate, the makers made the official announcement for the film.
Earlier today, Sunny Deol and the rest of the team shared a post announcing Border 2. They released a video with a voiceover by Sunny Deol, where he talks about returning after 27 years to fulfill a promise and salute the soil of India once again.
The video describes the film as “India’s biggest war film,” ending with the iconic song “Sandese Aate Hain” sung by Roopkumar Rathod and Sonu Nigam.
The caption on the post announces, “A soldier is coming back after 27 years to fulfill his old promise. India’s biggest war film, #Border2” The film will be creatively directed by Anurag Singh and produced by T-Series’ Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, and JP Films’ JP Dutta and Nidhi Dutta.
Anurag Singh is known for films like Dil Bole Hadippa and Kesari.
Following the announcement, fans expressed their excitement and anticipation for Border 2. Many fans are eagerly waiting for the film’s release.
Jackie Shroff also celebrated 27 years of Border by sharing a video on his Instagram stories, tagging his co-stars and the director.
Details about the rest of the cast have not been revealed yet, but last year, Pinkvilla reported that Ayushmann Khurrana is in advanced talks for a role in the film. Sunny Deol will reprise his role as Major Kuldip Singh Chanduri.
Border 2 is set for a Republic Day 2026 release, with the makers aiming for a January 23 release date.
Sunny Deol’s last film was Anil Sharma’s Gadar 2 with Ameesha Patel.
