BLM co-founder criticizes Taylor Swift fans and calls Chiefs’ Super Bowl win “right-wing, white-supremacist conspiracy”
Criticism has been levied by the co-founder of a Black Lives Matter chapter against Taylor Swift fans, labeling them as ‘racists’ and asserting that Kansas City’s Super Bowl victory was part of a ‘right-wing, white-supremacist conspiracy’ in a series of social media posts. Melina Abdullah, a 51-year-old professor of Pan-African Studies at Cal State University Los Angeles, took to social media, formerly known as Twitter, to express her negative views on the pop singer and her athlete partner over a two-week period. ‘Why do I feel like it’s slightly racist to be a Taylor Swift fan?’ Abdullah questioned on February 11, the day of the Super Bowl. ‘I said FEEL, not think,’ she clarified when prompted to explain further. ‘Kind of like that feeling I get when there are too many American flags.’
After the Kansas City Chiefs claimed victory in the Super Bowl, Abdullah wrote: ‘Why do I feel like this was some right-wing, white-supremacist conspiracy?!?! Booooooo!!!!’

Abdullah intensified her statements as they garnered attention from other users. ‘Folks think they’re attacking me by asking why I think everything is racist…I’m not offended,’ she stated. ‘Virtually everything is racist.’
Responding to a commentator, Abdullah clarified her advocacy efforts: ‘And I’ve also decided to work with all my might and in a community of committed people to upend racism and oppression.’
