Blake Lively is receiving support from her family members.
Amid ongoing criticism surrounding the promotion of It Ends With Us, Blake’s brother-in-law, Bart Johnson, who is married to her older sister Robyn Lively, is speaking up in her defense.
When the High School Musical actor, who recently shared a birthday tribute to Blake on Instagram, saw a comment accusing her of “promoting happiness in a domestic violence setting without regard for victims,” he felt compelled to respond.
“I’m sorry you feel that way,” the 53-year-old, known for his role as Coach Bolton in the HSM films, wrote. “I’m sure you have a big heart and mean well. I can assure you that the full truth has yet to come out. Blake put in more effort on this film than I have ever seen her put in before. It meant a lot to her.”
Continuing to show his support for his sister-in-law and the film based on Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel, Johnson stated, “The message is in the book and the movie, not just in short clips or interviews. She is the driving force behind getting this message and the film out there.”
