Joe Biden jokes about Taylor Swift endorsement being ‘top secret’ in interview with late-night host Seth Meyers
President Joe Biden made a playful comment on Monday regarding a possible endorsement from Taylor Swift for the 2024 election, calling it a “classified” matter during a rare appearance in the media to celebrate the 10th anniversary of “Late Night With Seth Meyers.”

Biden’s unexpected appearance on stage came after comedian and actor Amy Poehler mentioned that he had been a guest on Meyers’ first show when he was vice president. Poehler suggested Biden returning, leading to his entrance to the tune of “Hail to the Chief.”
“It’s good to be back,” Biden told Meyers. “Why haven’t you invited me earlier?”
As the presidential election approaches, Biden is exploring new ways to connect with voters, having largely avoided White House press conferences and formal interviews with text reporters. He also opted out of the usual pre-Super Bowl presidential interview.
Meyers brought up a conspiracy theory circulating on social media that alleges Swift and NFL player Travis Kelce are part of a scheme to help Democrats win the upcoming election.
“Can you confirm or deny the conspiracy between you and Miss Swift?” Meyers asked Biden.
“Where are you getting this information, it’s classified,” Biden replied, revealing that Swift endorsed him in 2020. When asked if she would endorse him again, Biden jokingly said, “I told you it’s classified.”
Biden also addressed the “Dark Brandon” meme, in which he is depicted with laser eyes, stating, “I resent the hell out of it,” before putting on his signature aviator sunglasses. The meme, originating in conservative circles, has gained traction among Biden’s supporters and campaign merchandise sales.
At 81, Biden is the oldest U.S. president and addressed concerns about his age by pointing out the memory lapses of his political opponents. He referenced a recent mix-up by Donald Trump during a speech, where Trump mentioned the wrong name for his wife.
Regarding the importance of ideas over age, Biden criticized Trump and Republicans for pushing policies that go against long-standing American values, such as abortion rights. He condemned Trump’s praise for Capitol insurrection participants and his promise to pardon those who attempted to overturn the 2020 election.
Meyers, known for his criticism of Trump, used much of his show to critique the former president and the Republican party. He also took aim at Democrats who shielded Biden from criticism, emphasizing the importance of holding leaders accountable in a democracy.
Despite holding the fewest news conferences and interviews compared to past presidents, Biden remains active in engaging with the public and media. After the interview with Meyers, Biden enjoyed some ice cream with him and attended an event with donors at a hotel in midtown.
