Usher Receives Lifetime Achievement Honor at 2024 BET Awards; Tribute from Childish Gambino, Keke Palmer, and More Celebrities

Usher receives Lifetime Achievement Award at BET Awards 2024
Usher, known for his iconic tracks, now adds the title of one of the youngest superstars to receive this prestigious award to his legacy.
During the BET Awards 2024, which celebrates the industry’s top artists, Usher received the Lifetime Achievement Award for his epic musical contributions. A lineup of well-known artists surprised the audience with tribute performances for the Good Good artist.
The memorable performances kicked off with Childish Gambino performing an acapella version of U Don’t Have to Call, joined later by Keke Palmer. The medley tribute continued with Palmer singing U Make Me Wanna and Coco Jones performing There Goes My Baby.
Other artists like Marsha Ambrosius, Chloe, Tinashe, Teyana Taylor, Latto, and more also took the stage to honor Usher’s legacy.
As Usher accepted his award on stage, his wife, Jenn Goicoechea Raymond, cheered him on. The award was presented by Kenneth Edmonds, L.A. Reid, Jimmy Jam, and Terry Lewis.
In a light-hearted moment, Usher joked about receiving the award “too early,” comparing himself to an 8-year-old still on the move. He reflected on his challenging upbringing without a present father figure and shared a touching message during his acceptance speech.

According to a press release reported by PEOPLE, the BET Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes “special achievements and distinguished public service.”
Connie Orlando, BET EVP of Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy, highlighted the longstanding relationship between BET and Usher, commending him for his cultural impact and unwavering commitment to excellence in the music industry and black excellence.
The OMG singer was also a nominee for four BET Awards, ultimately winning the title of best male R&B/pop artist.
