Top Red Carpet Looks at the Grammys: Taylor Swift, Victoria Monét, Miley Cyrus
The 66th Grammy Awards took place in Los Angeles where some of the biggest stars in the music industry attended, showcasing their varied outfits. The most common trend in attire was the exposure of midsections, whether it was a cutout gown or sheer shirt.
Some of the music icons like Dua Lipa and Miley Cyrus opted for metallic tones, while Gracie Abrams, Paris Jackson, and others chose black and Kylie Minogue, and Bonnie McKee opted for red garments. As one of the most popular colors this award season. (Ms. McKee further complemented her look with fiery hair.)
Several stars also went for older hit styles. For instance, Laverne Cox, the E! host, wore a structured Comme des Garçons dress from 2015, and Olivia Rodrigo chose a white Versace gown that is nearly ten years old.
The Grammy Awards are known as a fashion playground, and this year’s event was no exception. However, there were 22 looks (three of which belonged to the members of boygenius) that stood out more than most, for better or worse.
Miley Cyrus: Most Barbarella!
The “Flowers” singer’s metal mesh by Maison Margiela was seen as marvelous by many. Some compared it to Cleopatra, while others saw Barbarella or Princess Leia from Star Wars with it.
Ice Spice: Most Foxy!
Many were excited about the rapper’s Little Orphan Annie curls and her revival of Baby Phat on the red carpet.
Jelly Roll: Most Woodsman!
In a sea of tuxedos, the rapper and singer chose a comfortable outfit. He wore a tan lumberjack coat over a white T-shirt along with turquoise buttons and a shearling collar.
Olivia Rodrigo: Most Throwback!
The “Vampire” singer chose a bedazzled 1995 Versace gown, a look that many considered a throwback style. If there were an award for the oldest dress, she might have won it.
Janelle Monáe: Most Polished!
The neckline of the singer’s Armani gown climbed to two triangular peaks before plunging toward a black-and-white rosette near her bellybutton. On the red carpet, she described the dress as “timeless” and “futuristic.”
Kylie Minogue: Most Padam!
The “Padam Padam” singer’s scarlet Dolce & Gabbana gown featured flowing cape sleeves, a lacy corset, and leg slits that added drama to her look.
