Bernard Hill, Actor from Titanic and Lord of the Rings, Passes Away at 79

Bernard Hill, known for his roles as Captain Edward Smith in Titanic and King Théoden in the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy, passed away at the age of 79.
The British actor, originally from Manchester, England, started his onscreen acting career in the late ’70s in the U.K., and later appeared in films such as Gandhi and The Ghost and the Darkness alongside actors like Val Kilmer and Michael Douglas. However, he gained widespread recognition for his role in the 1997 Oscar-winning film Titanic with Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet.
Hill also appeared in Dwayne Johnson‘s The Scorpion King in 2002 and portrayed King Théoden in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers in 2002, part of Peter Jackson‘s trilogy based on the works of J. R. R. Tolkien.
