Mindy Kaling’s Awkward Shoutout to Ben Affleck at DNC During Divorce News with Jennifer Lopez.
Recent tabloids have been abuzz about the Hollywood power couple, Jennifer Lopez (JLo) and actor Ben Affleck. Beyond their immense fame and successful careers in show business, they have always been in the spotlight for their personal lives.
The couple, whose marriage has been a topic of discussion since May 2024 with rumors of trouble brewing, has officially ended. On August 20, 2024, JLo filed for divorce after two years together, with the separation date listed as April 26, 2024.
While Affleck has not made any public statements yet, according to sources from the Daily Mail, Ben Affleck’s issues became public on August 21, 2024, when fellow actor Mindy Kaling mentioned him at the Democratic National Convention (DNC).
Kaling, also from Massachusetts like Affleck, referenced her home state as the host of the DNC’s third day. “I love you, Massachusetts!” Kaling exclaimed. “Everyone is always hating on us, but they just don’t get it. Go Sox! Go, Jayson Tatum! Ben Affleck, hang in there. Dunkin’ Donuts is the best coffee in the world.” she added.
The comedian also acknowledged Affleck’s affection for another Massachusetts staple, adding, “Dunkin’ Donuts is the best coffee in the world!” For context, Affleck is known for his love of the Dunkin Donuts franchise.
The actor even appeared in a commercial for Dunkin Donuts that aired during the Super Bowl, and a viral 2020 photo showed him dropping a coffee order, becoming a meme.
According to Buzz Feed, he once revealed that his go-to order at Dunkin Donuts would be iced coffee, almond milk, and two sugars, sometimes Splenda.
He attributed his love for the franchise to his adolescent days when he would enjoy munchkins or coffee with friends.
Meanwhile, aside from Mindy, the convention featured hosts like Kerry Washington, Ana Navarro, and Tony Goldwyn. The DNC, which commenced on August 19 and concluded on August 22, reportedly had close to 50,000 attendees. The event’s theme was For the People, For Our Future.
Reportedly, Jennifer Lopez made efforts to save her marriage with Ben Affleck, but the actor did not reciprocate. Following JLo’s filing for divorce on August 20, a source informed People that she decided to end the relationship after realizing “it’s time to move on.”
The actress filed for divorce without legal representation, opting for a process known as pro se. According to PEOPLE, this decision was likely based on Lopez’s desire to swiftly close this chapter of her life.
