Ben Affleck explains the reason behind his intense expression in paparazzi pictures
Ben Affleck is a man of many emotions.
The actor, who is often featured in internet memes as “Sad Affleck,” is now addressing another public perception about him: people often think he looks angry in paparazzi pictures.
“I’m also a little bit shy,” the Oscar winner confessed to Kevin Hart during the season four premiere of Peacock’s Hart to Heart. “I also don’t like a lot of attention. That’s why people see me and think I’m always mad. It’s because someone sticks a camera in my face and I have to deal with it.”
Affleck also mentioned that he wants to protect his family, which includes his children — Violet (18), Seraphina (15), and Samuel (12) with ex-wife Jennifer Garner, and his wife Jennifer Lopez‘s 16-year-old twins Max and Emme — from intrusive photographers.
“When I’m with my kids and the paparazzi are taking my picture,” Affleck added in the June 20 episode, “my reaction is much different. I want to protect them. You can take my picture at a club or a premiere with my wife, I don’t care. But with my children, it’s a different story.”
