Producer Vashu Bhagnani of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan fame sues Ali Abbas Zafar for alleged misuse of funds during shoot, according to report
There has been an ongoing controversy surrounding Vashu Bhagnani’s production company Pooja Entertainment and their failure to pay dues to filmmakers, artists, and workers. Most recently, Ali Abbas Zafar has filed a complaint against Vashu, the producer of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, for not compensating him for his directorial services. In response, Vashu Bhagnani has taken legal action against Ali Abbas Zafar, accusing him of misappropriating funds.
According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, Vashu Bhagnani and Jackky Bhagnani of Pooja Entertainment lodged a complaint at Bandra Police Station against Ali Abbas Zafar on September 3, 2024. The Bhagnanis alleged that Ali Abbas diverted subsidy funds designated for the film shoot that were received from Abu Dhabi authorities for personal or unauthorized use.
The producers claim that Ali Abbas Zafar’s actions have put a strain on the production of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and have raised concerns within the film industry. News of unpaid dues has been circulating since the official complaint was filed, and Ali Abbas Zafar is expected to be questioned by the police as part of the ongoing investigation.
On September 22, 2024, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) received a complaint from Ali Abbas Zafar against Vashu Bhagnani for non-payment of dues related to a film featuring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff. Ali Abbas has not received his fees for directing the project under Pooja Entertainment.
Ali Abbas Zafar, known for directing hit films like Tiger Zinda Hai, Sultan, and Bharat, released Bade Miyan Chote Miyan on April 11, 2024, with Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff in the lead roles. Despite high expectations, the film did not perform well at the box office.
Jackky Bhagnani, as a producer, has been involved in projects like Bell Bottom, Cuttputlii, Mission Raniganj, and Ganapath, among others.
