Bachelorette Jenn Tran Receives Insightful Racism Advice from Michelle Young
As Jenn Tran started her journey, there was a particular member of Bachelor Nation she wanted to reach out to.
Prior to filming season 21 of The Bachelorette as the first Asian-American to take on the role, she decided to contact former contestant Michelle Young.
“I really wanted a perspective from a person of color and to understand what her experience was like and seek advice on how to navigate it,” Jenn shared in an exclusive interview with E! News’ Francesca Amiker. “I know that being in the spotlight brings a lot of criticism and racism, specifically. I was curious to learn how she dealt with it and if she felt it was worth it in the end.”
She continued, “And she offered valuable guidance. She mentioned, ‘There will be negative individuals and racism out there, but remember your purpose and stay strong.’”
Jenn discovered that she and Michelle, who was the lead in season 18 of the show, had similar approaches to their respective journeys, both in front of the camera and behind the scenes.
