During the success of Baby Reindeer, Gadd also urged fans not to publicly reveal the identities of his past abusers, including the television writer who sexually abused him early in his comedy career. (The character was portrayed by Tom Goodman-Hill in the series.)
“Please refrain from speculating on the real-life identities of the people,” he posted on Instagram Stories, as reported by People. “That’s not the focus of our show.”
So, what was the motivation behind creating Baby Reindeer? “All I wanted to do was capture something complex about the human experience,” Gadd stated in the Netflix description of the show. “To show that we all make mistakes, that no one is entirely good or bad, and that we are all searching for love in our own peculiar ways.”
He went on to say, “I hope that among all the messy, complex, screwed-up themes that Baby Reindeer presents, people will recognize its heartfelt message.”
