Travis Kelce’s Arrival Causes a Frenzy in Australian Media
It’s been almost two weeks since the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl. That meant we got a lot of Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce content.
There’s little doubt that the Chiefs’ superstar tight end and the world’s biggest pop star are the globe’s most well-known couple at the moment. Since their relationship went public back in September, they’ve been larger than life.
Taylor Swift resumed her record-breaking Eras Tour last week with three shows in Melbourne, Australia. The shows at the Melbourne Cricket Grounds had the biggest crowds of Swift’s career, with just under 100,000 people in attendance each night.
Travis Kelce chose to extend his celebration of his third Super Bowl win last week. But now, he’s joining his girlfriend in Australia for her four shows in Sydney.
Kelce arrived in Sydney time on Thursday, and the Australian news media went wild. It was as if he was a king arriving or something. Take a listen.
Of note, that is not Jason Kelce with him. It’s actually former Penn State basketball player Ross Travis. Travis tried his hand at football with the Chiefs, and the two have been close ever since.
I’m pretty surprised that the Australian news media covered Travis Kelce’s arrival with such enthusiasm. We often hear that no one else cares about the NFL besides Americans. But it seems they think it’s a pretty big deal that Travis Kelce is joining Taylor Swift in Australia.
