Ashley Judd responds to Harvey Weinstein’s conviction being overturned
Harvey Weinstein‘s conviction update is having a significant impact on those involved in his case.
Following the reversal of the disgraced film producer’s conviction in New York by an appeals court on April 25, prominent figures in the #MeToo movement are speaking out, including the first actress to accuse Weinstein, Ashley Judd.
“That is unjust to survivors,” Judd told The New York Times. “We still stand by our truth. And we remember what happened.”
Another accuser who came forward, Katherine Kendall, expressed her disappointment, stating, “[It’s] a stark reminder that victims of sexual assault often do not receive justice. I am deeply disheartened by the current state of the legal system. I am truly shocked.”
Amber Tamblyn, a vocal supporter of the #MeToo movement, also voiced her frustrations, describing the reversal as “a setback for the entire community of women who have bravely spoken out.”
“If there is a silver lining to this news,” the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants actress added, “I hope it renews people’s commitment to not just wishing for equality and safety, but actively working towards it.”
