Boney Kapoor responds to Arshad Warsi’s claim of being underpaid for choreography in Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja, says Warsi was not a star at the time

Arshad Warsi started his career as a choreographer before making his acting debut with Tere Mere Sapne in the 90s. He worked on Boney Kapoor’s Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja in 1993. Recently, in an interview with Samdish Bhatia, Arshad Warsi claimed that he was underpaid for his choreography work on the film. Boney Kapoor has responded to these claims, stating that Arshad wasn’t a star at the time.

In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, Boney Kapoor addressed Arshad Warsi’s allegations of being underpaid. He mentioned that it took Arshad three decades to bring up the 1992 incident, laughing at the delayed timing. Boney questioned how they could have paid Arshad a huge amount when he wasn’t a star back then.

Boney explained that the original plan was for the choreography to take four days, but it was completed in three days by song director Pankaj Parashar. Arshad was paid Rs 75,000 for the three-day job, equivalent to Rs 25,000 per day.

Boney Kapoor, who later worked with Arshad on a TV show, mentioned that Arshad never brought up these payment issues back then. He suggested that everyone nowadays craves media attention.

Director Pankaj Parashar, who directed the song, clarified that he wasn’t involved in the finances and did the job as a favor to Boney. He supported Boney’s account and suggested that Arshad’s recent claims might have been meant as a joke.

Pankaj Parashar also disputed Arshad’s claim that the choreography was completed in three days, calling Arshad a “newcomer choreographer” who didn’t have control over the shoot.

In his previous interview, Arshad Warsi mentioned that he quoted Rs 1 lakh for the four-day job but received a cheque of Rs 75,000. He choreographed the title track of Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja.
