Anushka Sharma admits she and Virat Kohli are not ‘perfect parents’ to Vamika and Akaay; ‘We will always find something to complain about…’
Anushka Sharma is currently experiencing parenthood with her husband, cricketer Virat Kohli. Anushka, who was in London with Virat and their children, Vamika and Akaay, returned to India last night. Upon arriving in Mumbai, Anushka attended an event where she openly shared that they are not “perfect parents”. She admitted that they have their flaws but emphasized that it is normal.
At the event in Mumbai, Anushka Sharma spoke candidly about her parenting journey with Virat Kohli, acknowledging the pressure to be perfect parents. She mentioned the imperfections of parenting and the importance of normalizing it.
“There is so much pressure to be this perfect parent. We are not perfect parents; we will complain about things, and it’s okay to admit it to them. So they know that you are flawed,” Anushka said during the event.
The Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi actress also highlighted the importance of owning mistakes as parents to create a more conducive family environment. “Imagine kids having to live up to, ‘Oh my parents are like this’. So owning your mistakes makes it easier,” she expressed.
Anushka Sharma also emphasized instilling good values in her children, Vamika and Akaay. She mentioned that Vamika is too young to be taught anything at the moment. Anushka shared that they serve as examples for their children to understand how they navigate life.
Praising her daughter Vamika for picking up on expressing gratitude towards others and being grateful for what they have, Anushka Sharma highlighted the importance of parents setting positive examples for their children.
Discussing the ambitions parents have for their children, Anushka emphasized the importance of not being in a selfish space. She suggested that parents should be grateful, as their children will follow suit.
Anushka also noted that children can learn positive behaviors from their environment if parents lead by example.
On the professional front, Anushka Sharma is set to make a comeback as a lead in Chakda ‘Xpress after her last film, Zero, in 2018.
