Anurag Kashyap Reminisces About Nawazuddin Siddiqui Carrying Rajpal Yadav’s Suitcase When They First Met at a Railway Station; Reveals Siddiqui Had ‘No Money for Food’
Anurag Kashyap, a prominent filmmaker in Hindi cinema, began his career as a co-writer on Ram Gopal Varma’s film “Satya” in 1998. He also wrote the dialogues for “Shool” in 1999. Recently, Kashyap shared a story about Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who was carrying Rajpal Yadav’s suitcase when they first met at a railway station. Kashyap recalled that Nawazuddin had no money for food at the time.
In a new audio interview with Rkz Theater on YouTube, Anurag Kashyap reminisced about Nawazuddin Siddiqui accompanying Rajpal Yadav at a railway station as Rajpal was leaving Mumbai. Kashyap mentioned that Ashraf Ulhaq recommended Rajpal to him. He then met Rajpal and Nawazuddin at the railway station, with Nawazuddin carrying his suitcase.
Recalling that he gave Rajpal a one-scene role in “Shool” and provided him with a big break in Hindi cinema, Kashyap also mentioned how Nawazuddin requested a role after Rajpal was offered one. Nawazuddin expressed his willingness to do anything as he had no money for food at the time. Kashyap revealed that Nawazuddin had a small role as a waiter in a scene with Manoj Bajpayee and Raveena Tandon.
After playing minor roles in various films, Nawazuddin Siddiqui received a breakthrough in Anurag Kashyap’s “Gangs of Wasseypur” where he played the role of Faizal Khan in the second part. He has appeared in numerous other films such as “Bajrangi Bhaijaan,” “Kick,” “Manto,” “Raees,” “Badlapur,” “The Lunchbox,” and more. Nawazuddin was most recently seen in the supernatural horror film “Adbhut.”
