Anna Sorokin, who pretended to be a wealthy German heiress named Anna Delvey in New York City, made headlines for her fraudulent schemes targeting banks, businesses, and hotels. People magazine reported that Sorokin was convicted on multiple charges in April 2019 and sentenced to prison. After her release in February 2021, she was placed under house arrest with restrictions, including a ban on social media use.
According to Page Six, Sorokin’s lawyers argued that these restrictions violated her constitutional rights and served no purpose in preventing any risks. Recently, a judge allowed Sorokin to resume using social media, and she expressed gratitude for the opportunity to control her narrative once again.
Following her arrest, Sorokin’s story inspired various adaptations, including Netflix’s series “Inventing Anna.” Sorokin shared her thoughts on the series, expressing her disapproval of the portrayal of her character in a fictionalized criminal setting.
