Amy Schumer Reveals She Has Been Diagnosed with Cushing Syndrome
Facial swelling, often called “moon face,” is a common side effect of treatment. These symptoms usually go away after treatment is stopped, and it should be stopped gradually.
In her own words in a newsletter, the star of Life of Beth, who has a son Gene, 4, with her husband Chris Fischer, talked about being in MRI machines for hours at a time and the fear of not being around to see her son grow up. She found out she had a type of Cushing that will resolve on its own and is healthy, which was the best news.
She went on to say, “It has been a hectic few weeks for me and my family. Besides worrying about my health, I had to deal with being in the public eye and getting feedback from the internet. But that turned out to be a blessing because it made me realize something was wrong.”
While the star of Trainwreck did not disclose the reason for taking steroids, she has been open about her struggle with endometriosis, an autoimmune disease in which tissue grows outside the uterus, causing pain and infertility. In 2021, she underwent a hysterectomy to remove her uterus, which can help alleviate symptoms of the condition.
