Navya Naveli Nanda, granddaughter of Amitabh Bachchan, reveals her disinterest in pursuing a career in movies: ‘My true passion lies in…’
Navya Naveli Nanda, the granddaughter of Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan, possesses an entrepreneurial mindset and is involved in various new initiatives. She recently participated in the India Today Mumbai Conclave 2024 where she expressed her reluctance to pursue acting as a career choice, unlike her maternal family members, including her brother Agastya Nanda, who are active in the entertainment industry.
Navya emphasized the importance of living up to one’s legacy and stated that she is more passionate about social impact and business, where she intends to focus her future endeavors. She expressed gratitude for the opportunities she has despite recognizing that many people in India do not have the same privileges. Navya clarified that acting was never her ambition.
For those unfamiliar, Navya is the daughter of Shweta Bachchan Nanda, Amitabh Bachchan’s eldest daughter, who married businessman Nikhil Nanda in 1997. Navya gained attention recently for her podcast “What the hell, Navya,” where she addressed various social issues with her mother and maternal grandmother as guests.

Recently, Navya faced criticism regarding her admission to IIM, with people questioning her achievements and eligibility. During the conclave, the 26-year-old discussed dealing with social media trolling and expressed her indifference towards negative comments. She acknowledged the voice social media provides and its potential for showcasing one’s work.
Describing herself as fortunate for attending IIM, Navya shared, “I have actively chosen to showcase my work and myself. I do not take offense to negative remarks. Coming from a privileged background, my reality differs from many women in the country, so I do not dwell on criticism.”
Having graduated from Fordham University in New York in 2020, Navya Naveli Nanda co-founded Aara Health, a health-tech platform, in the same year.
