Singer Mandisa, Former American Idol Contestant, Passes Away at Age 47
In the book, Mandisa shared her struggle with turning to food in times of difficulty, leading to weight gain and isolating herself out of shame. She even reached a point where she contemplated ending her own life, as reported by People. However, she acknowledged that it was the intervention of her friends and loved ones that ultimately helped her.
“Throughout my life, I have formed friendships with a diverse range of people,” she wrote, as cited by People. “My circle includes individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and walks of life. Surrounding yourself with people who are different from you can enrich your life and broaden your perspective.”
She added, “In the midst of my struggles, I have been surprised by the individuals whom God has used to provide comfort and support. And there have been times when I have been able to reciprocate that support. That’s what true friendship is all about.”
