Did Alyson Stoner Actually Want to Be a Child Star?
The former member of the Camp Rock cast explained that part of their journey involves staying true to themselves rather than conforming to the public’s perception of them over the years.
“The world has a narrative for all of us, right?” they continued. “Your friends, family, teachers, everyone around you—they have a certain idea of who you are and sometimes we get stuck in that image. And then, when you start to show who you really are, people might say, ‘Wait, you’re not the little’ whatever they thought you were before. Or, ‘You’re not fitting into the box I had for you. You’ve changed.’
“I’m giving myself the freedom to accept that I may never be in the entertainment industry again, and I’m okay with that,” they added. “Even though that’s all I’ve known, it doesn’t have to define my future.”
During the interview, Alyson humorously remarked, “I say that but here we are on camera.”
“It’s okay,” they reassured. “We’re all works in progress. We’re healing.”
