Aly Raisman Offers Mental Health Advice to Jordan Chiles Following Olympics
The 30-year-old athlete admitted that she is still perplexed by the decision of the IOC and FIG that the rule applied after the one minute mark.
“It doesn’t make sense to me, and that’s what makes it so devastating and difficult to comprehend,” Aly stated. “Because the inquiry cannot be accepted unless it is within that minute timeframe.”
She pointed out that someone had to verify that the inquiry was made “within that minute, and then the judges acknowledged their error, adjusted the score, and none of that would have occurred if it wasn’t within that minute window.”
Throughout the entire situation, the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee has maintained that the inquiry was submitted within one minute, and they appealed against the decision, which was ultimately rejected.
