Shogun, leading the nominations with 24 nods including Outstanding Drama Series, is based on James Clavell’s novel from 1975, delving into Japanese history.
At the Emmy Awards airing on ABC on Sept. 15, Lessons in Chemistry featuring Brie Larson, based on Bonnie Gramus’s debut novel, will compete with Ripley, a modern adaptation of Patricia Highsmith’s The Talented Mr. Ripley, known for the 1999 film starring Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Jude Law.
Over the years, book adaptations like Games of Thrones, Bridgerton, and Big Little Lies have seen success at the Emmy Awards, garnering multiple nominations and wins.
