A few years back, Alia Bhatt and Salman Khan were supposed to star together in a film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali called Inshallah. Unfortunately, the movie was cancelled, disappointing many fans who were eager to see the two stars sharing screen space. However, it was not just the fans who were saddened by the news. During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Sanjay Leela Bhansali talked about the purity he looks for in actors when they work with him. He recalled the time when he was working on Inshallah with Alia Bhatt and how she reacted when the project got shelved. “She broke down, she cried, she locked herself in the room,” Bhansali revealed.
After a week, Bhansali offered Alia the lead role in his film Gangubai Kathiawadi. Initially, Alia had doubts about playing the character but Bhansali encouraged her to trust him. He worked with her to bring out the essence of the character in the film.
