Vasan Bala says Alia Bhatt and Karan Johar have earned their reputation through years of hard work: ‘It was not inherited’
Bollywood star Alia Bhatt and filmmaker Karan Johar have carved a special place in the hearts of audiences, building their successful careers through years of hard work. Director Vasan Bala recently reflected on their journeys, highlighting that their achievements are a result of consistent dedication. He specifically pointed out that Karan Johar’s prominence was not handed to him but earned through his own efforts in the industry.
During an interview with VOA India, Vasan Bala emphasized Karan Johar’s accomplishments, noting that he has established his legacy in the industry through his successful films. He mentioned that the hard work and investment put into creating a film reflect not only the actor’s but also the producer’s earned reputation. Karan, according to him, did not inherit his success; he worked hard by producing major blockbusters and earning his place in the industry.
“Karan ko viraasat mein nahi mili hai (Karan did not inherit this); he has made the biggest blockbusters and earned this position for himself,” he said. He also praised Alia Bhatt for showcasing versatility in her roles and delivering hit films consistently over the past decade. Vasan highlighted that her success is a result of years of dedication.
The director stressed the importance of box office performance, as filmmaking involves significant expenses. He added, “Both Karan and Alia have built their reputations through hard-earned success.”
Discussing the real-life personality of Alia Bhatt, Bala described her as deeply intuitive and wise. He mentioned that she approaches her roles with a natural instinct, without overthinking, even in leading roles.
On the professional front, Alia Bhatt is currently working on her upcoming project Alpha, directed by Shiv Rawail and featuring Sharvari. This film is part of the YRF Spy Universe and is scheduled to release on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025.
She also has Love & War in the pipeline, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, where she will star alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal.
