Accused Serial Killer Rex Heuermann Faces Charges in Connection with 2 Additional Murders
The bodies of the “Gilgo Four” were discovered on Gilgo Beach in December 2010. They were described in Heuermann’s original indictment as “small females aged 22 to 27, believed to be working in the sex industry.” According to the document, all of the victims were missing their clothing and personal belongings, and were victims of homicide. Additionally, they had all been in contact with someone using a disposable “burner” phone shortly before they disappeared.
The original indictment also mentioned that Heuermann’s phone records showed his own device had been used in the same areas where the burner phones had contacted Barthelemy, Waterman, and Costello. There were also calls made from Brainard-Barnes’ phone to check her voicemail days after she went missing.
At the time of his arrest, Heuermann was found with a burner phone connected to an email account he allegedly used to search for information on sex workers, sadistic, torture-related pornography, and child pornography. Heuermann is currently being held without bail and is scheduled for a hearing on July 30, as reported by NBC News. If convicted, he could face multiple life sentences without parole.
