Sonakshi Sinha opens up about keeping her relationship with Zaheer Iqbal under wraps to avoid negative energy: ‘The spotlight is already intense…’
Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal exchanged vows on June 23, 2024. They chose to keep their relationship low-key during their seven years of dating before getting married. Sonakshi recently shared the reason behind their decision to keep it private, citing the belief in avoiding the evil eye. She mentioned that as an actress, being constantly in the spotlight, it’s important to keep certain things private.
During a conversation with CNN-News18, Sonakshi Sinha discussed why she and Zaheer Iqbal kept their relationship private. She mentioned that the concept of ‘nazar’ played a role in their decision, to ward off any negativity.
Sonakshi emphasized that as an actress, attention is often on her personal life rather than her work or legacy. Therefore, she felt that certain aspects should be kept away from the public eye. She expressed, “You’re already so much in the limelight; everybody knows everything about you. Something that is so dear to you should be kept for yourself.”
Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal had a small, intimate registered marriage at home in June, surrounded by close friends and family members. They shared the news on Instagram along with beautiful pictures from the ceremony showing their happiness and love for each other.
In their caption, they expressed their deep love for each other and reflected on their journey together. They mentioned, “On this very day, seven years back (23.06.2017) in each others eyes, we saw love in its purest form and decided to hold on to it. Today that love has guided us through all the challenges and triumphs… leading up to this moment… where with the blessings of both our families and both our gods… we are now man and wife.”
The heartfelt message concluded with, “Here’s to love, hope and all things beautiful with each other, from now until forever. Sonakshi Zaheer. 23.06.2024.”
Following their wedding ceremony, Sonakshi and Zaheer had a reception attended by Bollywood celebrities like Salman Khan, Kajol, Rekha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and others.
