Daniel Radcliffe Pays Tribute to Maggie Smith Following Her Passing at 89
Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe paid tribute to his late co-star and veteran actress, Maggie Smith. Smith, who was 89 years old, passed away on Friday, September 27 in the hospital, surrounded by loved ones.
The news of Smith’s passing was announced by her sons in a public statement. They shared that she peacefully passed away and is survived by two sons and five grandchildren.
In the statement, the family also thanked the staff at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital for their care and kindness during Smith’s final days. They requested privacy during this time.
Radcliffe, who worked with Smith for a decade on the Harry Potter series, mourned her death and praised her intellect in a statement. He recalled meeting her for the first time at the age of 9 and how his parents admired her.
He shared, “She was a fierce intellect, had a sharp tongue, and was extremely funny. She could intimidate and charm at the same time.”
Smith played the role of Professor McGonagall, the head of the Gryffindor house, in the Harry Potter movies. Radcliffe, who played Harry Potter, had many scenes with her.
