Hoda Kotb Announcing Departure from Today Show
Hoda Kotb is discussing her new journey.
After nearly 20 years on the Today show, the veteran host has announced she is stepping away from her role. She revealed that the decision came to her after celebrating her birthday recently.
“I realized that it was time for me to start a new chapter at the age of 60, and explore different opportunities,” she tearfully shared during the September 26th episode of the morning program. “As I looked at the wonderful people outside with their beautiful signs, I felt like I was at the peak of my career. I decided that now is the perfect moment for me to make a change.”
In addition to her career shift, Hoda, who is a mother to her daughters, Haley, 7, and Hope, 5, expressed her intentions to focus more on her family.
“Having had my children later in life, I believe they deserve more of my time and attention,” she added. “Time is precious, and I want to make the most of it with my family. This decision has been extremely difficult for me.”
