Shailene Woodley Reflects on Struggling with Mysterious Health Issues During Filming of Divergent Movie Series
Shailene Woodley, star of The Three Women, reflected on a time when she landed the lead role in Divergent and faced a health scare that nearly took her life. During a conversation on the SHE MD podcast with Mary Alice Haney and Dr. Thais Aliabadi, the Spectacular Now actress shared that she experienced discomfort throughout her body.
She struggled with hearing, couldn’t walk for more than five minutes, and suffered from stomach pain after eating.
Discussing her health issues further, the Fault in Our Stars actress told the podcast hosts, “I was losing my hearing. I couldn’t walk for longer than five minutes without having to rest for hours and hours. Everything I ate hurt my stomach.” She mentioned that doctors couldn’t diagnose any specific symptoms, attributing them to stress and thyroid issues.
Woodley also reflected on her confusion about her health, questioning, “I’ve always eaten very healthy and been athletic. Why am I passing out every month during my period? Why am I hypothyroid?”
