Tia Mowry Opens Up About Strained Relationship with Twin Sister Tamera
Before her iconic role as cheerleader Isis in the popular 2000 film Bring It On, Union portrayed Vanessa, a friend of Tia and Tamera, in seasons four and five.
Since then, the age-defying actress has appeared in a multitude of movies including The Brothers, Deliver Us From Eva, Bad Boys II, The Perfect Holiday, Cadillac Records, Think Like a Man, Top Five, Birth of a Nation, Girls Trip and Breaking In. She received an NAACP Image Award for her role as a determined journalist in the BET series Being Mary Jane and currently stars as an LAPD detective (the same character from Bad Boys II) in Spectrum Originals’ LA’s Finest.
Union also served as a judge on America’s Got Talent, where she raised concerns about a “toxic culture” on set, alleging racist and sexist comments. However, an independent investigation later stated that no such remarks were made about her appearance, as shared by NBC and AGT producers in May 2020.
In an interview with Variety, Union expressed her desire for genuine change not just on the show, but within the larger parent company. She aspires to cultivate a workplace that is happy, inclusive, secure and healthy.
In 2014, Union tied the knot with retired NBA star Dwyane Wade after dating for nearly six years. They welcomed their daughter Kaavia James via surrogate in 2018, and Union is also a loving stepmother to Wade’s three children from previous relationships.
