Shah Rukh Khan took nap on bus floor during Dil Se shoot, recalls Tigmanshu Dhulia; says he never objected to people going over him

During the Dil Se shoot, Tigmanshu Dhulia recalls Shah Rukh Khan taking a nap on the bus floor and never objecting to people walking over him.

Shah Rukh Khan began his acting career with the TV series Fauji in 1989. After appearing in various shows like Circus and Dil Dariya, SRK made his film debut in 1992 with the movie Deewana, starring alongside Rishi Kapoor and Divya Bharti. Early in his career, films like Darr, Anjaam, and Baazigar established him as a successful star in Bollywood. Tigmanshu Dhulia, actor-filmmaker, recently shared a story about Shah Rukh Khan during the shoot of Dil Se, where SRK would nap on the bus floor without any objections.

In a recent interview with Mashable India, Tigmanshu Dhulia revealed that during the filming of Dil Se, Shah Rukh Khan would take naps on the floor of the bus as there were no vanity vans available. Dhulia, who first worked with SRK in Mani Ratnam’s film in 1998, reminisced about shooting in Ladakh and traveling on rough roads.

Describing the bus they used for transportation during the Dil Se shoot, Dhulia mentioned, “Shah Rukh would nap on the passage where people walk during lunch breaks for about 30 minutes. Despite crew members going in and out of the bus to get things, he never objected.”

Tigmanshu Dhulia also mentioned how Shah Rukh Khan never stopped anyone from entering the bus while he was napping, even though he could have as the star of the film. Dhulia added that SRK could have asked for undisturbed sleep time, but it never happened during the shoot.

For those unfamiliar, Tigmanshu Dhulia had a brief appearance at the ticket counter in the movie Dil Se, which starred Shah Rukh Khan. He also worked as a dialogue writer for the film. The 1998 romantic thriller also featured Manisha Koirala opposite SRK. Preity Zinta, who made her debut in Mani Ratnam’s film, had a supporting role in it.

Years later, Tigmanshu Dhulia collaborated with Shah Rukh Khan in Anand L Rai’s 2018 film Zero, where he played SRK’s father.
