TV Ratings for 2024 Emmys increase by over 50%
Returning to their usual September slot helped boost the TV ratings for the Emmy Awards.
Sunday’s broadcast on ABC had an average of 6.87 million viewers in fast national ratings from Nielsen, a 54 percent increase from the delayed 2023 awards, which only drew in 4.46 million viewers — an all-time low for the awards. The 2023 Emmys aired on Fox in January, four months later than usual due to last year’s writers and actors strikes.
The broadcast also had a 1.02 rating among adults 18-49, a 17 percent improvement from last year.
The Emmys have been struggling in the ratings even before the COVID-19 pandemic, with numbers not reaching over 8 million viewers since 2018. The show averaged 11.19 million viewers from 2015-18.
