Jennifer Lopez Makes Sure Happy Kids are Her Top Priority as She Enjoys Lunch with Ben Affleck and Children During Split, Source Reveals
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck prioritize their family despite their difficult divorce proceedings and enjoyed a “fun lunch” with their children, according to a source who spoke to PEOPLE. On Saturday, September 14, the duo reportedly gathered with their kids at the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles.
The group included Affleck’s children, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12, from his previous marriage with Jennifer Garner, and Lopez’s twins, Emme and Max, 16, from her marriage to Marc Anthony. “They all came together for a fun lunch so the kids could spend time together,” the source said, emphasizing the couple’s commitment to providing a sense of normalcy for their children despite the divorce.
Meanwhile, the former couple is still working through their divorce and “amicably” finalizing financial details, a decision that offers hope for their future relationship. Despite their differences, the Atlas actress is reportedly making an effort to be “friendly” with Affleck. “A divorce is never easy, but Jennifer doesn’t want to be selfish about it,” the source added.
The kids have always gotten along well, and seeing the children have fun together brings Lopez joy. “Seeing the kids happy together makes her happy. Happy kids are her priority,” the source further revealed.
This gathering took place less than a month after Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck on August 20, which would have marked the second anniversary of their official wedding in Georgia. They initially tied the knot in Las Vegas on July 17, 2022.
The singer filed for divorce without legal representation at Los Angeles County Superior Court, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason. She declined spousal support for either party, and according to an insider, neither party had a prenuptial agreement. The documents also state that the former couple will split attorney’s fees evenly, and Lopez will revert her last name from Affleck to Lopez.
The couple famously rekindled their relationship in 2021, almost 17 years after calling off their engagement in 2004. Despite speculation that they would become the “It” couple, their reconciliation did not last. Amid rumors of a split, the pair spent their summers on opposite coasts this year.
The actress attended the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) to support her film Unstoppable, produced by Affleck and Matt Damon’s Artists Equity. However, the Gone Girl actor was absent from the event.
