Looking back: Twinkle Khanna’s ultimatum to Akshay Kumar for a second child based on his movie choices
Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna are beloved Bollywood couple with two children, Aarav and Nitara. They tied the knot on January 17, 2001, after dating for a few years. Following their marriage, Twinkle decided to focus on writing and became a popular author, while Akshay continued to excel in his acting career with a diverse range of films. Interestingly, it was Twinkle who played a key role in persuading Akshay to choose more ‘sensible movies’. She once disclosed that she advised him to do meaningful films or else they wouldn’t have a second child.
During their appearance on Koffee With Karan season 5, Twinkle shared with host Karan Johar how she made this condition to Akshay. When Karan inquired about it, Akshay humorously responded, “I can’t even tell you what I have to go through every day,” highlighting Twinkle’s strong personality. Akshay indeed started taking on socially relevant roles after the birth of their second child, Nitara, on September 25, 2012. Films like OMG – Oh My God!, Airlift, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Pad Man, Raksha Bandhan, and more showcase his shift towards meaningful cinema.
Recently, Akshay was seen in the film Khel Khel Mein, released on August 15, 2024, alongside Fardeen Khan, Taapsee Pannu, and others. He also made a memorable cameo in Stree 2. His upcoming projects like Sky Force, Welcome To The Jungle, Jolly LLB 3, Housefull 5, and Bhooth Bangla promise to entertain the audience.
