Dave Bautista Opens Up About Recent Weight Loss; Reveals He Started ‘Trimming Down’ For THIS Particular Reason

Dave Bautista Reveals the Motivation Behind his Recent Weight Loss and Decision to “Trim Down”

Dave Bautista discussed his recent weight loss and the strict training and diet regimen he follows to maintain his newly trimmed body after fans expressed concerns.

Appearing on the Insight with Chris Van Vliet podcast on Tuesday, September 10, the WWE veteran turned Hollywood actor, known for his roles in James Bond and Marvel films, revealed that he focuses on staying slim to avoid appearing too distracting on camera.

“I began slimming down for a specific reason. Why? Well, I started slimming down because I had gained some weight,” he said. Bautista shared that his upcoming lead role in the 2023 thriller Knock at the Cabin made him feel “uncomfortably large.”

He continued, “People have seen me as larger over the years, so they think I’m anorexic, which is unsettling. Despite being 6’4″ and 240 pounds, I still appear large compared to most actors.”

Bautista joked about how, despite fans’ concerns about his weight loss, he still looks like a gorilla next to other actors. The former WWE Champion mentioned that he is following a strict nutritional plan, consuming fewer calories than when he was bodybuilding.

“I’m likely to lose a few more pounds. I’m working hard in my workouts to stay trim, almost pushing myself to the limit. Not only do I exercise a lot, but I also monitor my calorie intake, probably around 2,500 calories a day. It doesn’t mean much to me because I’m not eating much. I fast, but I’m not starving,” he added.

Bautista made his acting debut as Drax the Destroyer in Guardians of the Galaxy a decade ago. Since then, his career has skyrocketed with roles in films like Spectre, Blade Runner 2049, My Spy, Army of the Dead, Dune, Glass Onion, and more. The former WWE star also mentioned that he has no plans to come out of retirement for a match against Triple H at WrestleMania, even though he’s not currently wrestling.
