Zooey Deschanel Reflects on her ‘Honored’ Experience with ‘Amazing’ Bridgerton Kiss, Inspired by a Passionate Scene from New Girl

One particular scene that got fans excited was a spontaneous kiss between the characters. Showrunner Jess Brownell recently shared in an interview that the kiss was inspired by Nick and Jess’s passionate kiss from New Girl.
During an interview with Entertainment Weekly to promote Bridgerton season 3, Brownell mentioned, “Nicola sent a clip of Nick and Jess’s first kiss from New Girl, which is also a very passionate, slamming-together kiss.”
The latest season of the Netflix show had many intimate moments, leaving fans curious about whether the closeness between characters will continue in future episodes.
Meanwhile, Zooey Deschanel, who portrayed Jess in New Girl, reacted to her show’s iconic scene inspiring the Shondaland series.

While promoting her new movie, Harold and the Purple Crayon, Deschanel expressed her excitement about the kissing scene. The actress from 500 Days of Summer said, “Oh my God, I’m so honored, that’s amazing.” She added, “The fact that it filtered into a show like Bridgerton is incredible.”
Discussing the significance of the kiss between Nick and Jess in New Girl’s season 2, the actress mentioned that the writers and production team put a lot of thought into it as it was a crucial moment for the characters and the audience waiting to see if the leads would end up together.
Deschanel portrayed Jess Day for 7 seasons on the Fox Network show. New Girl was a light-hearted sitcom following a group of individuals navigating life’s journey through love and friendships.
