Celebrating Anurag Kashyap’s Birthday: Behind the Scenes of Gangs of Wasseypur director’s Prank on Manoj Bajpayee
Anurag Kashyap, who made his debut in showbiz with Ram Gopal Varma’s film Satya, is a well-known figure in Bollywood. He has gained recognition for his work in Hindi cinema with movies like Gangs of Wasseypur, Gulaal, Manmarziyaan, Black Friday, and more. As Anurag Kashyap celebrates his birthday today (September 10), let’s remember the time when he made Manoj Bajpayee chase him with a stone.
On the 10th anniversary of Gangs of Wasseypur on The Kapil Sharma Show, Kapil Sharma recalled a funny incident involving director Anubhav Sinha, Manoj Bajpayee, and Anurag Kashyap.
Sharing the story of what happened, Anurag Kashyap talked about how Manoj got emotional and then chased him as he felt insulted. This incident occurred outside legendary lyricist and filmmaker Gulzar’s house. Anurag mentioned that during a cookery show hosted by filmmaker Hansal Mehta, both Manoj and he were called to taste the food.
“We were hungry, so we went for the tasting. There was a moment where he [Manoj] got emotional,” Kashyap explained.
“He thought that I insulted him in front of Gulzar Sahab, so he picked up a stone and ran after me, and I ran ahead with Hansal trying to stop us. Later, we both sat on the roadside and cried before hugging each other,” he added.
Anurag Kashyap has collaborated with Manoj Bajpayee in movies like Gangs of Wasseypur, Satya, and Shool. While Kashyap directed the Gangs of Wasseypur series, he co-wrote the screenplay for RGV’s film in 1998 and worked as a dialogue writer for a film in 1999. As an actor, Anurag was recently seen in the Tamil mystery film Maharaja alongside Vijay Sethupathi earlier this year.
