Amar Kaushik, director of Stree 2, comments on Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao’s credit dispute and its impact on the cast’s bond
Filmmaker Amar Kaushik, director of the successful film Stree in 2018, is currently enjoying the reception of its sequel, Stree 2. With Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao in the lead roles, this horror comedy has become a trending topic. However, amidst the celebrations, a controversy has arisen regarding a possible PR game over the credit for the film’s success. Amar Kaushik, along with actor Aparshakti Khurana, recently addressed this issue and its impact on the bond within the star cast.
In a recent interview with India Today, Amar Kaushik shared his views on the ongoing credit dispute, suggesting that such debates have become common on social media platforms. Kaushik mentioned that he took a break to avoid being affected by the noise.
The director mentioned how fans often engage in online battles to prove why their favorite actor should be given credit for the film’s success. Kaushik emphasized the performance of Stree 2 in cinemas and how the atmosphere around successful films leads to such debates about credits.
Kaushik added that once a film crosses a certain milestone at the box office, people tend to get caught up in these “social media games”. Despite this, the bond between the actors has reportedly become stronger, as shown in a light-hearted video recorded by the team regarding the credit dispute.
Regarding the success of Stree 2, Kaushik credited the entire cast and crew for their contributions. He highlighted the importance of recognizing everyone who worked behind the scenes, including the VFX team and the crew member who voiced the character Sarkata. Kaushik emphasized the collective effort that goes into making a successful film.
Stree 2, featuring a stellar ensemble cast including Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Aparshakti Khurana, Abhishek Banerjee, and Pankaj Tripathi, was released on August 15.
