Yo Yo Honey Singh labels AP Dhillon, Karan Aujla, and Guru Randhawa as ‘superstars’ but excludes Diljit Dosanjh for THIS specific reason
Yo Yo Honey Singh has been dominating the music scene, particularly the rap genre, in India for many years. He was one of the first artists to introduce hip-hop and rap to the country. Since then, many singers and performers have gained fame. In a recent interview, Honey discussed his contemporaries and shared his thoughts on the current independent music scene.
Speaking to Mid-Day, Yo Yo Honey Singh mentioned that the music industry is currently creating streaming stars rather than superstars. Reflecting on the past decade, he noted that only artists like AP Dhillon, Karan Aujla, and Guru Randhawa have truly become superstars. He also mentioned Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh but did not consider him among the superstars.
Supporting his statement, the Brown Rang singer explained that Diljit Dosanjh was already a legend in the game. He mentioned that he has known Dosanjh for years and they have worked together. According to Singh, while some artists have become superstars, many others have only become streaming stars, which he believes is a major issue today.
In a recent interview with The Lallantop, the 41-year-old shared his unconventional opinions about some of his hit songs. He referred to the song “Blue Hai Paani Paani” from the movie Yaariyan 2 as the most foolish song he has ever written. Singh expressed disbelief over the success of his songs like “Lungi Dance” and “Party All Night,” attributing it to people praising him excessively.
Recently, the singer collaborated with Neha Kakkar and Guru Randhawa on the song “Hauli Hauli” from the movie Khel Khel Mein.
