Jacqueline Fernandez praises ‘strong female representation’ in Bollywood and advocates for pay parity: ‘We have the power to push boundaries…’
Jacqueline Fernandez is one of the most popular actresses in Bollywood, having worked with various celebrated stars in the industry. While pay parity is still a topic of discussion, Jacqueline believes that female representation in the industry has become stronger.
During a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Jacqueline was asked about her views on gender parity in Bollywood, given her collaborations with major male co-stars such as Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Emraan Hashmi, and John Abraham.
In response, the Welcome To The Jungle actress acknowledged the progress in female representation but also emphasized the need for more women-centric films and roles. She encouraged female directors and producers to take the lead and push the boundaries further.
Jacqueline expressed her desire to work on more female-centric scripts and play female protagonists. She believes that change is indeed happening in the industry.
When asked about what hasn’t changed for her since her debut film, Jacqueline mentioned her disciplined training routine. She still wakes up early to train, practice yoga, and hit the gym. She continues to dedicate time to rehearse and perfect her dance choreography, admitting that she still gets nervous before performances.
Despite her success, Jacqueline remains committed to improving her skills and works with coaches for diction training. She also highlighted that her core team has been with her since the beginning of her career.
On the professional front, Jacqueline has exciting projects lined up, including the film Fateh directed by Sonu Sood and Ahmed Khan’s Welcome To The Jungle. The third installment of the Welcome franchise boasts a star-studded cast and is set to release on Christmas 2024.
