Parenthood Star Mae Whitman Welcomes First Child, Names Baby After TV Costar
Mae Whitman has officially become a parent.
The Parenthood actress shared the news of her first child—a son—born on Aug. 28. She posted a photo of the newborn’s feet, making a playful reference to Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber‘s recent baby announcement.
“Not to be a Bieber about it but I too just welcomed our son, Miles,” Mae announced on Instagram. “From the moment we heard his first tiny squeak, we fell in love.”
Describing him as “kind, gentle, smart, and funny,” the 36-year-old revealed that her baby boy is named after Parenthood costar Miles Heizer, who portrayed her brother on the show.
“He’s our buddy (just like Uncle Miles),” Mae said about her child, whom she welcomed with a partner whose name remains undisclosed. “We are thankful he picked us as his parents.”
She concluded, “We adore you! Our hearts are full!”
Since their series ended in 2015, Mae and Miles, 30, have remained close. He was present—along with their onscreen mother Lauren Graham—when the Good Girls star shared her pregnancy news.
