Farhan Akhtar reflects on upbringing by father Javed Akhtar without religious boundaries; emphasizes importance of questioning societal norms
Farhan Akhtar, born to Javed Akhtar and Honey Irani, comes from parents of different religions but celebrates all Indian festivals with enthusiasm. He recently shared that his father raised him without any specific religion.
Speaking to Faye D’Souza on her YouTube channel, Farhan mentioned being raised to question everything, without a set religion. This upbringing encouraged him to apply logic and reason to beliefs and ideas, emphasizing the importance of facts over theories.
He acknowledged the comfort that faith brings to many people but noted the difficulty for those without faith to find that same comfort. Farhan pointed out that their family has celebrated various festivals with joy and festivity, focusing more on cultural significance rather than religious beliefs.
Farhan also discussed his divorce from ex-wife Adhuna Bhabani, sharing that it was a challenging experience due to his own upbringing with divorced parents. He wanted to shield his daughters from the same pain and upheaval he had experienced.
Currently, Farhan is occupied with the shooting of his upcoming film, Don 3, where he will not be sharing the screen with Shah Rukh Khan, as Ranveer Singh takes on the lead role.
