Orphan Black: Echoes, a spin-off to the original sci-fi thriller series created by Graeme Manson, has received a positive update following the premiere of its first season. The spin-off show, created by Anna Fishko, features stars such as Krysten Ritter, Keeley Hawes, Amanda Fix, Avan Jogia, and others. In a recent update, the showrunner confirmed that the show has not been canceled and is currently being discussed for a potential second season.
Fishko recently discussed with TVLine that Orphan Black: Echoes is still looking promising for a Season 2. “We’re really hoping for a Season 2,” Fishko mentioned in the interview. “It’s definitely under consideration and an ongoing conversation with AMC,” she added.
The AMC spin-off series follows Kira, played by Krysten Ritter, the grown-up clone from the original series, as she becomes involved in a new mystery in the year 2052. The show delves into the scientific manipulation of human existence, exploring themes of love, betrayal, and other human elements that make it an exciting experience for fans of the sci-fi genre.
In the interview, Fishko also addressed why Tatiana Maslany, star of the original Orphan Black series, did not appear in the spin-off. While there were early plans for Maslany to make a cameo as one of the Leda clones in the first season, scheduling conflicts prevented her from doing so. Fishko expressed hope for Maslany’s return in a potential second season, along with other characters from the original series.
The first season of the spin-off concluded with unresolved plot points, leaving room for a continuation in the second season. Despite a slightly lower critical rating compared to the original series, the showrunner remains enthusiastic about the potential future of Orphan Black: Echoes.
