Stree 2: Rajkummar Rao shares the funny backstory of Aparshakti Khurana’s Soft Chitti lullaby in horror-comedy

The Stree 2 team is reveling in the success of director Amar Kaushik’s horror comedy at the box office. Starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor in lead roles, this sequel to Stree, which was released in 2018, has been well-received. Actor Aparshakti Khurana, who portrays Bittu in the Stree series, sang a lullaby to help his on-screen girlfriend sleep, creating a buzz on the Internet.

In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, Rajkummar Rao shared an anecdote about how director Amar Kaushik came up with the idea of including the lullaby Soft Chitti Warm Chitti in the film. This lullaby, a recreation of Soft Kitty Warm Kitty from the American sitcom The Big Bang Theory, originated from an assistant director on the sets of Stree (2018) who used to sing it to his girlfriend.

Rao mentioned that the director found this habit fascinating and decided to incorporate it into Stree 2. The scene where Aparshakti sings the lullaby to his on-screen girlfriend, played by Anya Singh, is a playful nod to The Big Bang Theory.

In The Big Bang Theory, Jim Parsons’ character Sheldon asks his friend Leonard’s girlfriend Penny (Kaley Cuoco) to sing Soft Kitty Warm Kitty when he is feeling unwell.
