Maine Pyar Kiya Re-Release: Bhagyashree reveals Salman Khan’s comforting gesture during filming Mere Rang Mein, reminiscing ‘I was left in tears after every shot’
Sooraj Barjatya’s 1989 film Maine Pyar Kiya provided a great platform for debutant Bhagyashree and Salman Khan, who had only one film to his credit at the time. This romantic film is currently being re-released in theaters. However, not many people know that Bhagyashree was going through a tough time in her personal life during the shooting of the film.
Speaking to HT City recently, the 55-year-old actress revealed that she would often cry while filming the iconic song Mere Rang Mein Rangne Wali. “Despite shooting the most romantic song of the film, I was facing a lot of stress because my parents were against my marriage. After every shot, I would break down in tears, and Salman and Sooraj ji would try to console me,” Bhagyashree shared.
The on-screen chemistry between Bhagyashree and Salman Khan was loved by many, and the two actors also shared a good relationship off-screen. “Salman was mischievous and teased me a lot on set,” Bhagyashree recalled, highlighting their innocent friendship. She also mentioned how protective Khan was of her, ensuring her safety and well-being in public settings.
Maine Pyar Kiya is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year, and Bhagyashree expressed her gratitude for being a part of such a memorable film. Sharing a heartfelt note on her Instagram, the Paayal actress emphasized the enduring love and impact of the film. “I feel privileged to have been associated with a movie that holds a special place in the history of Indian cinema,” Bhagyashree remarked.
The actress believes that Maine Pyar Kiya was a timeless love story that resonated with audiences, creating lasting memories for viewers. The characters of Salman and Bhagyashree became synonymous with first dates and anniversaries for many people, bringing families together and revitalizing the theatrical experience, according to Bhagyashree. She expressed her gratitude towards Salman, Sooraj, and the team at Rajshri Productions.
Maine Pyar Kiya remains the highest-grossing Indian film of the 1980s, a testament to its enduring popularity.
